Yesterday the Art Department visited the Saatchi Gallery with 30 of our Year 9 pupils. This was the first visit in a series of three which will culminate in our 30 pupils having their artwork put on exhibition at the Gallery! The Saatchi Gallery, located in Chelsea, West London, is one of London’s most famous galleries and is known internationally, we are so excited at the prospect of having some of our pupils artwork exhibited there for public viewing!
Today’s visit saw the pupils take part in an interactive workshop in which they produced collaborative pieces of work linked to specific themes: food, language, time, light and dark and nature. The pupils were also taken on a guided tour of the current exhibition on show at the gallery. The Head of Education, Nadine Wright, commented on just how creative our pupils were and was amazed by some of the ideas and artwork they produced. We would like to thank the Saatchi Gallery for inviting us to take part in the “Start” programme, an amazing opportunity and look forward to seeing what our pupils produce next.
