At Greatfields, we believe in providing the highest standard of education to create a firm foundation for our students’ future success. Selecting subjects for the Key Stage 4 programme (year 10 and 11) is an exciting time for our year 9 students.
Alongside their core subjects, Greatfields offers a range of option courses in both GCSE and Vocational qualifications that will interest our students, respond to their varied needs and open routes to a wide variety of career prospects. The courses are devised so that students acquire a broad and balanced curriculum with ample opportunity for development.
The Options Booklet outlines vital information about the Key Stage 4 programme, and the subjects in particular, as well as give information about the consultation procedure.
Below, we have placed a timeline of key dates leading up to the options interviews and selection process.

KS4 Options Process Timeline and Key Dates 25-26:
January 2026:
Introductory assembly from Head of year to introduce options timeline followed by subject options assemblies delivered by Heads of Departments.
February 2026:
Parental information regarding Year 9 options placed on the website by Assistant Headteacher.
March 2026:
Head of Year 9 and Assistant Headteacher deliver assembly to all students about their options process in preparation for Options interview
March 2026:
Year 9 Options Interviews begin. Students submit their KS4 subject choices.
Friday 13th March 2026:
Deadline for all option choices.
Friday 1st May 2026:
All Parents/Carers will receive a letter/email to confirm their child’s option choices for KS4 study.
