On Wednesday 29th January, seventeen Year 7 and 8 students attended the first round of the Urban Debate League. Seven schools were involved and each school had up to four teams debating, with students ranging from Year 7 to 10.<\/p>\n

The first motion for the debate was: this house would implement an 8pm curfew for under 16s. Greatfields had a great start, securing two wins against Barking Abbey and Eastbury. Judges complimented students on their attention to detail, excellent rebuttals and confidence.<\/p>\n

The second motion was: this house would let young people vote on what they learn in school. Sadly, our three teams lost this round of the debates. However, Greatfields students demonstrated great resilience and determination throughout the entire debate.<\/p>\n
