This was the\u00a0fourth ceremony and was hosted in order to celebrate the outstanding achievements of women in our borough, it was a fitting contribution to a year of celebrations marking the centenary of female suffrage. Councillor Darren Rodwell began the night&#8217;s award ceremony followed by keynote speeches from Dany Cotton, commissioner of the London Fire Brigade and Dawn Wylie, Land Director of Western Holmes Plc. Awards were presented for: Female parent or carer of the year, female volunteer of the year, women&#8217;s community group of the year, young woman of the year, business women of the year and outstanding woman of the year. <\/sub><\/p>\n<p><sub>It was truly inspirational to see the amazing women that work and live in this borough. Sponsors of the evening, Bouygues UK also mentioned the painted hoardings of &#8220;Famous women from Barking&#8221;\u00a0that\u00a0our school&#8217;s very own Art Club have made and which have now been erected along Kind Edward&#8217;s Road and St Marys. In addition to this, Kris Eglitis, one of our Year 9 pupils, took part in the evening&#8217;s entertainment, performing as part of the Barking and Dagenham Youth Dance group.
