Today saw the start of this year\u2019s Art Club! We were lucky enough to be joined by Dilip from the local council who ran a special workshop with our pupils regarding recycling and how everyday objects that we normally view as rubbish can be turned into something new and useful with a bit of creativity and ingenuity. With Recycle Week approaching (24th – 30th September) we are the first school to be taking part in the Borough\u2019s initiative to raise awareness about how we can creatively reuse items we think we no longer need. Miss Knight, Mr Butler and our guest Dilip were so impressed with the creativity that\u00a0all of the 24 pupils who attended Art Club showed in their approach to the task they were set. The pupils worked collaboratively in groups to turn an item of \u201crubbish\u201d into a useful object. We had pencil pots made from recycled tins and plastic bottles, wish jars made from old glass jars, bird feeders made from water bottles and plant pots made from old containers! Well done all of Art Club on working together and showing just how creative we can be when we put our minds to it! Next week, in line with this term\u2019s theme of recycling, we will be learning how to create jewellery, paper bookcases and CD decoration hangings!
