Paul now delivers drug awareness talks to young people across the UK. His mission is to share his life story and ensure youngsters say no to drugs, reach their potential and fulfil their dreams. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"en-GB\">Paul spoke to our Year 8 pupils about how he first began smoking cannabis at secondary school, began bunking school and eventually got sent to a pupil referral unit. There he met a group of boys with whom he formed a gang. This soon led to a life of crime and one day, aged 19, he was offered heroin by a friend. From this point he was hooked on heroin and his life took and even further turn for the worse. He developed serious illnesses, almost lost his leg from blood poisoning, lost contact with his family and ended up in prison. Following his time in prison Paul eventually went to rehab and has now been over 10 years clean and sober. His story was harrowing and frank, an insight into the reality of what drug abuse and gang violence can do to your life. <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">His message was clear to our pupils: don\u2019t waste your future and make sure you give yourself the chance to fulfil your potential. Say no to drugs, gangs and knife crime. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"en-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"en-GB\">Following Paul\u2019s visit many of the pupils mentioned how horrified they were to learn about the realities of drug abuse, they were shocked to learn how easy it is to be become an addict and the long lasting, devastating effect taking drugs can have on your life. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"en-GB\">Staff and pupils at school would like to thank Paul for sharing his story with us and for the great work he has dedicated his life to now doing with young people.
