On Monday\u00a0a group of our Year 7 and 8 pupils were selected to take part in an all day workshop with Riverside School, hosted by the English National Opera and Riverside School’s Music and\u00a0Art Department. Our pupils got to experiment with new art mediums and write their own lyrics under the guidance of a professional singer\/ songwriter from the ENO. They also had the opportunity to practise and improve their singing methods with the advice of one of the ENO\u2019s singers. The workshop and lyrics produced by pupils were inspired by Benjamin Britten\u2019s War Requiem and poetry from Wilfred Owen. Pupils will take part in a concert on the 6th<\/sup> July, in which they will perform the lyrics they wrote in collaboration with the singers and musicians from the English National Opera. The concert will mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. This was a really great opportunity for our pupils to work with some of the UK’s most talented professionals.<\/p>\n
