The students were given a full tour of the building, including the Leader\u2019s office and the Chambers, where all new policy is debated. They were also told about the history of the borough and shown all of the official clothing and gold accompanied with being Mayor of Barking and Dagenham. There was much excitement when the macebearer came out and allowed some of our students to dress up as macebearers and as the mayor and carry all of the very fancy and expensive items. As we were leaving a foreign news network wanted to interview the students about their visit and give their thoughts on the experience.
