This is a competition between schools in Barking and Dagenham where our Year 8\u2019s were hoping to win the title. Greatfields were in Pool B which consisted of 4 matches. The winners and runners up of each pool gained a place in the semi-finals. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Greatfields first match was against Eastbury School, where previous matches had been closely scored. The team knew that this was going to be one of their hardest games and only had 10 minutes to win the game. Greatfields got off to a flying start, which improved throughout the game, and taking their first win of the competition, 3-0. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Jo Richardson School were up next where unfortunately the match was played outside in the rain. Regardless of the weather, Greatfields scored some fantastic goals going into half time winning 4-0. With great support from the side lines during the second half, Jo Richardson were unable to score resulting in another win for Greatfields, 6-0. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Next game was against All Saints School A team who Greatfields had previously lost against in the Borough League. Greatfields knew that this was going to be a tough match, but the two wins had given them confidence. Greatfields were also in a great position to go through to the semi-finals. All Saints scored their first goal, alongside Greatfields scoring theirs. Final score: 1-1. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Final game of the group stages was against Robert Clack School B team. The pressure was on for Greatfields if they were to continue their chances of the semi-finals. With a few changes to the team, Greatfields scored 3 fantastic goals in the first half with another 3 in the second half. Another 6-0 win to Greatfields. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">The team were nervous waiting to hear the results from the group stages because of the draw against All Saints School. The outcome relied on goal difference where Greatfields had scored 1 more goal than All Saints. Winners! Through to the semi-finals against Robert Clack School A team. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">The game was evenly matched and both schools had to work hard to try and shoot. Misses made by both schools meant that the second half was all or nothing. Robert Clack score. 0-1. Great interceptions made in defence. Greatfields score 1-1. Last few minutes of the match was tense. Mistakes were made by both teams but Greatfields continued to work hard. 30 seconds left: interception, fast movement of the ball, into the circle, shoot, score, and whistle. Greatfields had scrapped through. 2-1 Greatfields. Into the final of the Year 8 Borough Cup. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">Greatfields came up against their main rivals in the final, Riverside School. There is a fantastic friendship between the 2 schools but both teams were out to win. Riverside got off to a flying start scoring 3 goals with Greatfields unfortunately scoring 1. Riverside had height to their advantage and went on to score another 2 goals. Greatfields used their last efforts and managed to score another goal. Final score 5-2 to Riverside. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">I would personally like to congratulate all the girls that represented Greatfields School. This was the best I have seen the team play and was extremely proud. Second-best netball team for Year 8 in the borough is a fantastic achievement.
