Yesterday\u00a0Arc Theatre company came in to deliver an assembly and workshop to both Year 7 and Year 8 pupils. The workshop was part of their STOP AND THINK programme centred around\u00a0the police’s use of “Stop and Search” and “Stop and Account” to tackle crime in our society. Natalie, Educational Director of Arc, and her colleague Jordan spoke to the pupils about why the police stop and search members of the public in their aim to keep our society safe and why young adults may be more likely to be stopped and searched. They also explained the rights police have when someone is stopped.\u00a0Pupils took part in small performances and discussions regarding “Stop and Search”. Both Year groups really enjoyed the workshops and definitely agreed they had a better understanding of “Stop and Search” and how to keep themselves safe. Following the workshop Natalie wrote to the school to say ” Jordan and I really enjoyed working with your Year 7 and 8 students – they are great audiences for us. Very engaged and well behaved and interested in the subject matter with lots of sensible comments and feedback.”<\/p>\n
