We have been invited\u00a0to design artwork that will be displayed outside our\u00a0new school. Art Club were supplied with 21 pieces of timber from the construction company who are managing the building of the\u00a0school and were set the exciting task of creating designs. These pieces of timber will be a permanent fixture on the new\u00a0building, and Art Club have\u00a0tried to design\u00a0something that really captures the essence of Greatfields School.<\/div>\n

\u00a0For us at Greatfields School, the tree is our school emblem and so signifies our identity. This inspired our design and led us to explore the many meanings that can be expressed by the simple image of trees. We wanted a design that would represent the growth of our school and the strong links we hope to develop with our surrounding community. In the same way as trees may represent growth, strength and sustenance, our design shows our belief that as our school grows, our bonds within the school and with the surrounding community will be nurtured, grow and blossom. Our design includes a range of different trees to represent the diverse members who make up our school community. The concept of many individual trees together forming a forest also represents our core belief that every member of the school\u2019s diverse community of differing cultures, religions and backgrounds can support one another and create the opportunity for aspirations to be reached.<\/div>\n
