Greatfields Boy’s Year 7 football team completed the double, by beating Barking Abbey in the Borough League Cup Final. The teams had previously met in the semi final of the Borough Cup where Greatfields scored with 5 minutes to go to secure a 2-1 win. This final again was a very tight affair. Barking Abbey took the lead against the run of play, however our boys responded right back with some excellent football and went to half time 1-1. The half time team talk seemed to work as the boys took a 3-1 lead with two excellent goals from Ethan and Danyl. After two lapses in concentration, we conceded two sloppy goals and the game was finely balances at 3-3 with 5 minutes to go. The game looked destined for extra time, however 2 minutes from the full time whistle, new boy Sohail made a great run down the left wing and crossed a perfect ball for Seifeddine to head in past the Barking Abbey keeper. The boys held on for the last two minutes and completed the double. This is an extraordinary achievement for our brand new school and great credit must go to the boys for their great efforts and hard work.<\/p>\n
