On Thursday 24th November we hosted an outreach event for Kings College London’s Medical School.\u00a0 Outreach for Medicine work with students from over 500 non-selective state schools in London and Kent.\u00a0 They\u00a0run a series of aspiration-raising events for students across Keystages 3, 4 and 5, aimed at encouraging students to pursue careers in medicine and healthcare. Many of\u00a0these events are kindly supported by the Worshipful Company of Barbers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The students had a thoroughly enjoyable day and they left school very enthused about careers in medicine and healthcare.\u00a0 Students were even able to attempt stitching together skin wounds on the training prosthetics used at the medical school as well as taking home samples of ‘blood’ they had drawn from an artificial circulatory system.<\/p>\n

The Outreach officer was very impressed with our students and Kings offer a follow up opportunity to take a group to visit the medical school next year to further investigate life as a medic.<\/p>\n
