On 31st of March, Greatfields took part in our first cultural day! Rida Zahra, Sidney Potter and\u00a0Temidayo Sanda, who are part of the Diversity branch in the Student Leadership Team, first came up\u00a0with the idea of cultural day and with\u00a0the help of the rest of the Student Leadership team, were able\u00a0to host Greatfields first Cultural Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our school is very diverse with people from all over the world,\u00a0so Cultural Day was a day to celebrate each other\u2019s cultures and different backgrounds. Students and\u00a0staff members proudly represented their countries by coming in wearing their cultural clothes and\u00a0holding their countries flags. Break times were filled with music from different countries while the\u00a0playground became a sea of bright colours and happy faces. After school, we had a cultural fair in\u00a0which various students from various year groups brought traditional food and activities, like henna,\u00a0to be part of a stall that represented their country and these stalls were ran by themselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this cultural fair everyone was welcome to come and buy and try new foods from all over the world and\u00a0all proceeds were donated to a charity called Refugee Action and we were able to raise a fantastic\u00a0amount of \u00a3445.20. Finally, throughout the day staff and students were able to write their names on tags\u00a0and pin it on a world map, creating awareness of the vast range of countries everyone came from.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the day was a\u00a0huge success and we are all looking forward to Cultural Day next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
