The curriculum at Greatfields School<\/strong><\/p>\n

Greatfields\u00a0School is situated on the Gascoigne estate in Barking, the\u00a0fifth\u00a0most deprived local authority in the country.\u00a0 As a result, it is incumbent on the school\u2019s curriculum to provide the building blocks and cultural capital to compete with any child in the country.\u00a0 Our\u00a0curriculum is not just what happens in the classroom but in every area of school life. Students need to have access to a wide range of knowledge, skills and experiences if they are to develop into well rounded individuals ready for the challenges and opportunities that await them after they leave school.\u00a0The school offers a broad,\u00a0challenging\u00a0and diverse\u00a0curriculum, both inside and outside of the classroom, with an equal emphasis on the core subjects, humanities and the arts.\u00a0\u00a0We believe that fluency in reading is the gateway to students\u00a0gaining\u00a0a vocabulary\u00a0that will support knowledge, independence and skill acquisition.\u00a0\u00a0Our\u00a0curriculum is constantly reviewed by Heads of Department to ensure it is meeting our students\u2019 needs, so that they enjoy\u00a0their learning and share our teachers\u2019 passion for their subjects.<\/p>\n

We have a busy after school programme including a wide range of sports\u2019 clubs; dance and drama; art; STEM; and modern languages. We run a wide range of trips for students, mostly to London, in order to develop the cultural capital of our students.<\/p>\n
